Mystery teapot
« on: November 12, 2014, 03:02:51 pm »
Hello,

Does anyone know who made this lovely little teapot, and how old it is? The body of the teapot is approximately 4.5 inches long x 4 inches high.

A friend said it looks like Bretby, but there are no marks whatsoever on the teapot. It screams Art Deco, but was hoping someone could confirm if they knew.

All help much appreciated.
Donhinio.

It certainly appears to be from that era with one exception !! The glazed foot of the teapot was not commonly done !! They were usually left unglazed by most of the potteries I know of !! Where are you located ??

Could be the potteries there had different methods !! I think you can safely say that it is from the Art Deco era,, 1930`s !! Its a lovely pot !! My grandmother had a sugar bowl in a darker brown with the same drip glaze !! But it was an American piece !! Yours is a bit more subdued and softer colors !! I like it !!
