« on: November 16, 2014, 03:32:27 pm »

Hi, this is Japanese Kutani porcelain from the Meiji period (1868-1912) and of nice quality. Tomorrow I hope I will have more time to look for the maker.

Mat, it is so great to have you on this forum. Despite being in the business of selling old anything for 40 years, the Asian artifacts have always bewildered me.

Hi again, the mark reads " Dai Nippon Kutani Sekizan Sei" which means " Great Japan, Kutani, Sekisan made it". The "Dai Nippon" marking is typical for the Meiji period. About the maker I could not find any information, but there are many good makers about which we know nothing...
frogpatch and mart, you are right, asian items are very confusing, I just try to help whenever I know at least something!  :)
