Gold imari hand painted
« on: November 23, 2014, 06:19:25 pm »
So I'm having some trouble pinpointing exactly what this is as well as period and value. Any ideas? It's about 4.25 inches high and 4.75 wide.

Scroll down almost to bottom of page !! This mark was used in the U.S on Japanese porcelain which means it was likely decorated here, not Japan, between 1959 and 1984 !!
Looks like a plant pot or cache pot` !!

Hey Mart thanks for your help! I will bookmark that one for great reference. So it appears that although decorated here they still carry a some value on some pieces on ebay and the web. What's your thoughts on that?

I think you are correct. After further deeper investigation I found only one with similar shape and size. But not exact print.
Thank you again Mart!

Mart, now I see that you had said already that it is a cachepot! By the way, I think this was decorated in Japan. These can be found in Europe too with the same decoration and mark and I do not believe that they came here from the U.S.

I guess its possible it was decorated there !!  These were sold worldwide as undecorated pieces and finished at final stop !! No telling where some of them wound up !!
You do not have to find the same identical pattern to establish a value !! Most all the plant pots will be approx. the same !! What makes one sell for more than the other is simply because someone likes that color or pattern better than the others !! Its a personal preference !!
