Armada chest

We are wondering about this chest, which sadly we don't have much information on. It seems to have been used on a ship judging from the tar coating and holes in the bottom.

Where are you located and how did you acquire this chest ??  My first impression is that it is Portugese or Spanish but don`t hold me to that !!  Haven`t seen your link yet !!

Hi Mart thanks for the reply.

We are in Australia actually! It is my mother's.

It was a gift from a gentleman who recently passed away.

We think it may have been a gift in turn from a collector/artist named Mabel Sharp.

I wish we knew more...
