Marble top coffee table
« on: January 02, 2015, 07:50:59 pm »
I don't know much about this piece other than the marble top can be removed. It sits in an 1850s home filled with other Victorian like furniture.
I have attached 3 pictures.
Thanks in advance.

Can you please take a picture of the underside of the table AND if the marble lifts off...a picture of the table without the marble? Also look to see any markings on the underside of the marble.

I thought, as well, that the marble was not original to the table. Makes you wonder what was there... Hmmm, can't wait to get additional pictures to find out. Thanks all!

The rug is interesting too. LOL. Its been there for YEARS. I have no idea what it is either. Like I said in another post, this man has a ton of old stuff. The house belonged to his mother who passed away in 2002 at a 100 years old! Thanks again for the input! Very helpful

Quite a few rugs are lying around that house. I promise to take better pics this time around. Thanks for all the suggestions.  ;)

I will have pictures of the marble table tomorrow. I will also take some pictures of the rug as well. Maybe I could run the vacuum over it first??? LOL

A vacuum over it would help to see true colors !!  Just tell him you need to fluff it up a bit !!  ;)

LOL. Thanks! Should I look underneath to see if there is a tag of some sort? I'm not sure if rugs of this era even had tags or markings! I know it sits on some sort of rug pad and hasn't been moved in YEARS!!

I tried to take some better pictures of the rug but this is the only one that really came out well. I could see no markings or indications of who made this or where it came from. Any help is appreciated!

Nice piece of marble take care easily broken. May have been off a wash stand as for the table could have had some sort of wicker top like a Lloyd Loom piece with glass on top they tend to fall apart hence the marble as a replacement  just a thought those metal bits possibly for castors definitly not right but I reckon you know that
