Very Small carved Wooden Bottle enclosing Dice
« on: January 09, 2015, 03:19:22 am »
Another car boot find no idea of age possibly 50 years or so. Beautifully made wooden possibly boxwood bottle containing 3 bone dice...I think the photos will be adequate description. Not interested in the value just for your enjoyment.

You do come up with some of the neatest finds!

Dice games were extremely popular during war times!  Do you have a collection?

They just happen to be things I find as I go round charity/ thrift shops and car boot garage sales. Not a specific collection as such I do have about 20 of these brass spinners some with 1,2,3 etc on some with put and take on and everyone of them is slightly different either in size or design in some small way. I did have one that the top was in two halves and rotated separately but sold it on Ebay and it went to the USA. That I regret now. I have collected since I was a child and started with cigarette cards of which I still have a large collection. My big passion was firearms and edged weapons but of course guns are a no no in the UK now so most of mine had to be handed in and melted down very upsetting.
