Help with identification I've looked everywhere blue flow pitcher

Hi I have researched and researched and have not found consistent information was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on this pitcher. I know it is well over 100 years old because it has been handed down within my family. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. There are no markings that I can see on the bottom.

Now I would call that ….. Blue and White Ironstone.

But now I am a “perfectionist” and this is what a “true” Flow Blue piece looks like.



And you can see why it was given the name of “flow (flowing) blue”.

But now days, ….. everyone calls anything and everything that is blue and white as being “flow blue”.

ok thank you.  my pitcher does have limited blue flow but I totally see what you mean.  do you know how I might find out more about my piece?  and if it's not blue flow trying to figure out what it is?

No problem, the AFQ server "hangs" so long it makes the poster think his/her "posting" failed to work ....... and of course they will usually "retry it". A Forum Admn. will delete the other 2.

Tjojoj, do a Google "IMAGE" search forr .... flow blue pitcher, ....blue and white pitcher, ..... blue and white ironstone pitcher, ....... blue and white English ironstone pitcher, .... flow blue ironstone pitcher .... etc. ...... and hope for the best.

Or you might get lucky and one of the other members of this Forum just might recognize the shape and/or pattern. So just keep checking for replies for the next few days or so.

  It's embarrassing!

HA, it's frustrating  .... because sometimes it might take 5 to 10 minutes before the "server" signals a "post completion". I usually "open" a 2nd window and continue viewing the forum questions.

Hi there and welcome to the forum !!  I agree with Cogar that it looks more like English Ironstone !! Are you here in the U.S.?? 
Don`t worry about the posts,, we have been slow to load for a while and they have tried to fix the problem but it persists !! 
Can you take a pic of the bottom of your pitcher please ??  How do you know it is over 100 years old ??  Is it a family piece ??

yes it is a family piece.  It was my great great grand mothers.  There is nothing on the bottom but I can take a picture when I get home.  It is a family piece.  It has some crazing but it is minimal.  It is definitely old and does not appear to have a mark or stamp of any kind.

Sometimes the foot at the bottom will give an idea of its age !!  The reason I say it looks more like English stoneware is because it is not the typical flow blue pattern !!  Even though most flow blue was done with transfers on English ironstone !!  Kind of confusing,,isn`t it ??

I totally forgot earlier but if you go to www.replacements.co m there is a matching service that can look this pattern up for you !!  I have never used them but others have !!
