Cranberry glass?
« on: February 07, 2015, 09:13:38 am »
This 2-piece item has what looks like a hand-painted floral motif. It's about 6.5" tall and looks like what my mother called "cranberry" glass. The bottom is clear, though. What is the term for an piece like this? About a year and a half ago during a garage sale, a man spotted it in the china cabinet and wanted to buy it. Impulsively I said $10, but he walked away. Is it not worth $10?

It looks a little like Moser to me, enamelled cranberry glass. But I know very little about glass.
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.

Could very well be "cranberry stained" Rainbow Art Glass.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Rainbow-Art-Glass-Co-Cranberry-Hand-Decorated-Vase-large-9-1-2-tall-/221654756656?

"The Rainbow Art Company was first founded in 1940 in Long Island City, New York. Hand decorated Rainbow items were sold in every state as well as in Canada, Mexico, South and Central America, British India, and South America. Rainbow was located in Huntington, West Virginia from 1942 - 1973. They only decorated glass from 1942 - 1954. Glass was purchased from other Glass Companies and decorated with painting and staining among other techniques. From 1954 - 1973 they made their own glass. In 1973 the company was sold to Viking glass. The factory burned in 1983. Many Rainbow items can be found with Viking stickers showing that the Rainbow items were popular enough to continue making for many years."
