Need help identifying a decanter
« on: April 29, 2015, 10:03:49 pm »
First off, hello everyone - I just joined and am glad I found somewhere I can hopefully learn more about items and hopefully contribute in some small way.

I acquired this decanter that has no markings that I can find. I actually just dug it out of a box I had it buried in. Did some searching on the web and here is what I think I know:

1. It is a ships decanter
2. It might be cut glass; maybe crystal
3. The neck portion may be sterling silver (it was quite a bit darker than the pics show since I took a soft cloth to it and buffed it)

I have no idea who made it or in during which years.

Thank you in advance.

The images in that eBay listing definitely look just like the one I have. I've done some more searching around, but still coming up empty on a manufacturer or year.

As far as markings on the silver portion; there are none that I can find. I've inspected the whole thing head to toe a few times.

Can't identify the maker but i've applauded you for the images - perfect. Exactly the type needed in such circumstances.
