Another mystery
« on: June 01, 2015, 01:15:09 pm »
Hi All
I travelled to New Forest at weekend and popped into a little antique shop and saw this vase straight away
operators of the shop did not know its origins apart from thinking it was Deco so I took a punt on it
Marks on bottom are very hard to see as a crystalish green glaze covered some of it on bottom as you will see, all I can see is "England" and what looks like "No 56 or 66" and maybe Moor or Woor at end of another word but rest is not readable

So what is - can anyone shed some light ? its 10 inches high

Cheers
James

Hi!  Can you please post a picture form another angle and in different lighting?  Preferably with England at the Bottom and the words that you are trying to decipher towards the top!  Thanks!

this is Devonmoor. Glaze, style, marks are all correct.

Not sure on the handwritten mark but there's a list of decorators and moulders on this site for various potteries. Just check the names next to the abbreviation DV for Devonmoor.
