Need help identifying Quan Yin Statue
« on: August 23, 2015, 11:18:05 am »
This is a 10" statue of Quan Yin. My boss inherited it from his mother who owned an antique store. I think its made from some kind of resin. It looks rough and damaged in some places. We are located in Pittsburgh Pa. It seems to have come with the wooden base it is sitting on because the holes coincide but I'm not 100% certain. Could anyone tell me anything about this item? I see no signatures on the piece so I don't know the maker or items origin. I'm not even sure of the material. Anything could help. Thanks in advance!

Yes, it looks like a resin copy of a blanc de chine figure of Guanyin. I've seen a very similar figure of her in taoist robes but made from ivory.

Purely a decorative object now with very little value.

From the pictures it does appear to be resin.

Suggest you do a resin test in a very inconspicuous place:
