« on: November 16, 2015, 09:16:39 am »
Hello everyone

Would anyone be kind enough to assist me with the attached mirror ?

What period design is it ?
What is the base style called ?

Many thanks in advance

Neil

The base is a carved rosette.

This would be called a vanity mirror stand and they didn't come into play until the dressing table became super popular in the mid/late 1800's.

Without seeing the attachment pieces and other views it would be hard to determine the age just by this picture.  Does it have a mirror on the other side?  Is it magnifying?  What does the bottom of the stand look like (picture please).

This doesn't look real old to me...from this picture.
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Can we see the back of the mirror and the bottom ??  Mirrors did not necessarily follow a style !! Yours could have been made from the late 1800`s to 1940 !!  Could also be a more modern reproduction !!
