fritzsche brothers bottle
« on: December 04, 2015, 10:37:03 am »
I acquired this bottle a few years ago at an antique store for a couple bucks and wandering if it's worth anything. It's a full unopened bottle of Fritzsche Brothers Oil of Sandalwood. Bottle has the number 423412414 on it. What year is it from??

Didn`t know there were collectors of these old oils but read this!!  Some old oils are upwards of $100. !! Sounds like sandalwood oil may be more than that because of some disease of the sandalwood trees !!  I would do more research on todays prices !!

This is for a bottle less than half full,,not sure how big your bottle is and there are watchers and people asking questions at that price !!  Amazing !! Does your bottle tell how many ounces ?? Is it sealed ??  You may have a small gold mine !! I would watch this sale if I were you !!

WOW! it doesnt say how many ounces but it's approximately 5 ounces. It weighs 10 ounces. It is sealed, with the silver pull seal and cork. All very interesting.

Your bottle looks to be a different style than the one on ebay. Problem with ebay is that is not a realistic price. You can ask whatever you want on ebay but that is way overpriced for that bottle and yours is different style. That's not what that user is getting for that price it's just an asking price. Realistic value is around 2 to 300 dollars. Didn't want to get your hopes up there

Also since you aquired this from an antique store 99.9 percent they know the value of the items before selling them. Also the reasons why there watchers is because other people want to see if that item will sell for that much but I guarantee to you it will not. I deal with ebay and there are a lot of sellers who way overpriced items on there. Your best bet it to ask someone who deals with these bottles to get an accurate value. Just don't expect it to be what you saw on ebay.

It's nice to have dreamers who think they can get that much for 1/2 a bottle!  :)

Yes, but remember this is ebay and mob mentality applies !!  When one starts asking questions others start to think that it may be a bargain at that price !! And it only takes one bid,, even if the price is high !!

I would be willing to bet a good amount that the 5k bottle of oil on ebay does not sell today, tomorrow or ever.
