I would say fairly modern Japanese but that's an educated guess based on similar marks to this being attributed to Kyoto and the design / flowers etc.

One of those items where the value can shift massively depending on who is buying - i don't like it but some might love that almost ' garish ' quality !

Would that possibly a K in the diamond mark ?? I thought it looked more like a decorators mark which you frequently find from China and Japan without a factory mark !!

Hi, I do not know that mark, but I would think that Ipcress is right that this is Japanese, maybe mid 20th century?

Thanks Mat !!  Can you tell what it is or what technique was used to create it ??  My opinion is that it is either a combination of transferware with the gold applied by hand or Japanese Moriage style ??  Not sure what to call it to check values !!

I do not think it is transferware. It looks hand painted, but the details are not very well done. I have seen people call this "raised gold", but also "gold moriage", I am not sure what is the correct term for it. "Raised gold" decoration exists also on European porcelain, for example on Sèvres, but I do not think it was done the same way. Maybe Ipcress cann add something about the technique?

Yes I know but this is sure not Sevres quality !!  I did not see any hand work on the background,, its very even and perfect,, just the top gold enamel layer !!  But your eyes are better than mine !!
