Vintage Oriental Girl Figure
« on: March 15, 2016, 11:02:00 am »
Measures approx. 11" tall (including her hair). Her face and hands are cloth and her clothes are cloth.  Her hair looks real, but I think it's black thread?? It's very soft, though. Is this one worth anything? Thank you. :)

This one is Chinese I think, not Japanese, so not a Geisha...

She' very pretty and seems to be better made than some tourist items I've seen.  Her hair does look real!  I think she would appeal to some doll collectors and someone decorating with an Asian decor.
I should have been born in another era!

Thank you. I'm posting for a friend. Her mother passed away a while back. She said that she got this back in the 70's.

Back in the 70`s decorating with an oriental theme was high style !!  I decorated my bedroom that way in the 70`s !! There was an influx of imports at that time so I would bet this was one of those !!  Way cool doll though,, many things from that era are being collected now even though inexpensive back then !!

So true Mart!  I would do a Google shopping search for 1970's Oriental dolls and see what comes up to get an idea of what people are selling them for.  More realistic would be to do the search in eBay and refine your search to "sold" and see if they are selling.  An Etsy search will bring up items for sale but they don't list a price if it sold.  When I had my shop I would just ask the seller what it sold for.  Occasionally I would get no response but many shop owners on Etsy are very friendly.  Good luck!
I should have been born in another era!

That is so true.  In the 70's (and prior to that) the buzz word was "Oriental".  That has now transitioned to "Asian" or specific country names to you will want to include that in your search.

You might want to look at "Oriental Doll with wood base" many are coming up with "Made in Taiwan" on them!  Also try searching for "Vintage Broider Doll with wood base"
