Now I wasa thinking, ……. maybe it is a “specialty” kitchen utensil.
I can envision it being made specifically for ….. dipping “HOT” water out of a boiling pot on the stove and topping-off the contents of a couple dozen Mason canning jars that are sitting on the kitchen counter/table awaiting their red rubber jar-rings and lids.
ps: I've watched my mommy do that very thing hundreds of times, but she used a handled (coffee) cup.
