Credenza/buffet

This is another thing I recently picked up. Can anybody help with the age and value of this? There is a stamp on the back 433 WAL. I am thinking possibly Art Deco or maybe a reproduction? How would I be able to tell? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1940`s credenza !!  The 433 is the style number and WAL is walnut finish !!

Would you happen to know the value of this? Didn't the credenzas of those years have longer legs?

Every mfr had a different style !! And much depends on when during any era it was made !! How tall is this one ?? It does not look like its as tall as a standard buffet/server ??

It is about 26" tall. (that is a guesstimation) On another forum, a member said that someone had cut the legs off. I wonder why they would cut the legs off a piece of furniture, unless it was too tall for what the person needed it for.

Mmm,,way too short for a buffet and the drawers are larger than what most would have !! Usually one drawer would be for silver ware and would be about half as deep as the drawers here !!  It is possible and sometimes likely that it could have been shortened !! If so you could see where the legs have been cut on the bottom !!  If shortened could possibly have been used as a TV stand !!  I have seen that more than a few times !!

Yes, it looks like the whole bottom assembly: legs, stretchers, etc. has been cut off, for whatever reason.

A piece like this in perfect condition might go for $100-$125 or so. In this condition, unfortunately, it's pretty much without value. Maybe $20 if someone had a special need for it.

If that isn't have the legs knocked out from under you! 

Bet it was used for a tv stand or window seat!  In our are you would get around $30 for it on a real good day.
