Hindu God Shiva - is this antique?
« on: March 31, 2016, 01:54:51 am »
Hi everyone

Through a little research online I have what looks to be a statue of the Hindu God Shiva dancing on a demon baby.

It looks to be quite old, however things nowadays can be made to look this way.

I am wondering if anybody has any specific knowledge in this area to clarify if this is antique.

It stands about 10" tall.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am no expert, but in my opinion it is not old. I have seen lots of these that were made to look old.

Totally agree.  It doesn't look old!

You would be surprised how many different cultures have someone trodden underfoot in symbolism.  If you have ever seen the wildly exaggerated works/sculptures of Bodero (he has done many)!
