I should have added that one ought not use a 'nice' vac-cleaner for this operation (glue down the hose & etc.) , even though you already know that .

One more suggestion would be to use Tung oil v/s the mineral oil ( it does have a scent that eventually goes away) .

I constantly have to talk myself out of buying rockers. I did manage to sell one, my fiancee brought one that is special with him, and at the moment we've got four of them. The Green Man rocker is definitely my favorite.

Hey gang, just wanted to let you know that we glued and set the cracked splat this weekend. The Green Man rocker is now nice and sturdy thanks to your advice!

So excited for you!!!!  I have so many projects that DON'T seem to be getting done.  Yard/garden work calls this time of year.

I opted to stabilize the cracks and that was it. No major transformation.

Well gang, does he look happier now that his splat has been stabilized?  There are no other changes, I love the worn finish just the way it is. Ol' Green Man still groans, but not quite as loudly now. In addition to the reglue to the splat, the whole seat cracked through at some point, but it was reglued and the repair is solid. It is really too bad that this rocker had such a hard life, it's a beautiful old thing. I will give him an easy retirement, rocking me through my coffee in the morning.
