Ivory carved chinese cabinet doors?

Hi everyone.

I have this pair of what I think are ivory, Chinese carved cabinet drawers.  I wondered if anyone could confirm this, maybe tell me the age, and value.  Basically any extra info would be great.  They are around 4" by 2"

Can you take a close up of one of the doors ??  Need a close shot of the uncarved section !!  Have to look at the grain/cellular lines !!

Sorry, I should have maybe specified, there is no shadow of a doubt that they are ivory.  My query was really if anyone knew what type of item they were from and if they were infact drawer fronts.

I was trying to figure out the "theme" of the pictures.

They made inserts for spice cabinets, jewelry boxes, furniture, etc.  This could be Japanese,   Look at some Shibayama Cabinets, display cabinets, etc.

The way they are made ...... with the dovetails and the "slot" for the drawer bottom, ...... they just gotta be drawer fronts.

Your first line left doubt !!  How did you come to have these ??  Bought,,or are they family items ??

I know, I am sorry about that.  I read it back and it does sound like that.

I bought them in an antique shop in England.

Ipcress or Mat would be the best to give you additional info !! I am the worlds biggest skeptic when it comes to sellers telling you something is Ivory !! Have seen too many fakes go for "Real" prices !!

Ok great, there is absolutely no shadow of a doubt that they are genuine ivory and very old.  This is a closer image of the carved scene.

They are probably ivory panels for a box to contain an item of every day use. Not the cover, but two sides.

Probably made around 1840 and worth a few hundred pounds.

Sorry but the carvings do not help !!  The flat portion is wht is best to see if it indeed has the crosshatching of ivory rather than the straight grain of bone or other materials.  And would need to be a much higher resolution than your pics !!

Thanks Ipcress, I didn't think they would be worth so much.  Is that for just the two sides or the whole cabinet/box?

Ipcress, I wonder if some one may be trying to applaud you from a smart phone or tablet.  My tablet  makes it very hard to get my finger on the karma/applaud button.  I did manage to give you a karma point but it was difficult.  Difficult in that its so small.  Ican't imagine who would do that on purpose!  😮

You know,, I never thought about that !! But today is the first time Ipcress has been here in a week or more !!  I think someone just doesn't know what they are doing and hit it to find out what smite is for !!  There is no one here that would intentionally smite Ipcress !! Could have been a mistake from the one with the ivory doors !! Intended to hit applaud but didn`t have the cursor where it should have been ??
