Antique musket double barrel

Another find today and old and a bitty broken . Length 120 cm . Inscribed with two names I can't make much off it . So is it from France or Belgium and how old could this be ?

So names and country and age help needed

Gerspee, I'm having trouble figuring out what the stamping is also,  Where is it printed on the gun?  Appears to be two proper names, an initial, dot, then another series of letters and then repeated beneath it.
If it is a bone fide flintlock (as opposed to a reproduction) was made probably before 1830, as I believe the percussion cap type of ignition started to be used around that time.  A lot of cottage industries made this type of gun for hunting purposes.  Quite an interestimg gun.  I believe if you can come up with what the stampings are it can be researched further.  I'm inclined to say its French but I'm not an expert in that sort of thing. The inscription is on the end of the lock. Looks like " J Auville " ( name ) " Entrains " ( place )

Any powder proof marks on the lock, trigger guard etc ?

Written on the stock,, right in front of the butt plate !!  Forearm is broken !!  Is anything written on the barrel anywhere ??  Those names would not be a mfrs name,, likely the owners name !!  Mfrs name would be engraved on the metal somewhere !!

Totally nothing further to find on the metal parts or the barrel . But the barrel has been rusty and painted black some years ago . So maybe rusted away ?  There's two kinds off metal on it . Iron for the mechanic parts and silver or maybe nickel on the ornaments and the shoulder rest . And a very good carving off a head with thick moustache and  beard and decorating stripes . So can't the head be the clue off origin ?

Gerspee, the 3rd picture in Reply #5 has me a bit confused.

It looks like you removed the barrels which apparently have two (2) square “lugs” on their ends which, when inserted into the square opening in the front of the “lock” mechanism, firmly positions the barrels to the stock/lock.

Is that a correct observation?
   
And my next question, ….. how many bolts holes in the underside of the barrel for affixing it to the stock?
 
And my next question, ….. did you get that gun via a private sale from its owner?

That's a very correct observation on the 3rd picture my dear Cogar    The barrel has two pieces left on it from a iron plate hat would have had probably the screws or connection to the stock . The gun is has been bought from a collector off antiques with to little memory left to tell me where it has been found . So blanc canvas from here

FWIW, Google shows one definition of Entrains as a place in the Nievre district of Central France.

It is actually Entrains-sur-Nohain, France that you are referring to.

In French Entrains means "by train".  Hubby has been in France 4 times this month and let me know this!  (I DIDN'T GET TO GO! AND for those of you who know how nuts I am about French knickknacks, silver, china and furniture...Arggghh hhh.  BUT he has brought me home French pastries, mousse, etc.  ALL STUFF TO PUT ON WEIGHT!  LOLOL)

KC, are you a fan of the old Palais Royal knick-knacks? Stuff like perfume bottles, grooming kits, little metal goats pulling carts on alabaster bases, that kind of thing? Things from the mid 19th century, for tourists visiting Paris on the "Grand Tour." I'm thinking of getting one or two for MsGhopper for Christmas and such, just wondered if you had any experience?

There was a duke d'Auville, from France, died September 1746 in Quebec. Maybe it is the same family? He was a military man, found him in a document about Canadian history online, The Canadian Monthly and National Review, Volume 7. No mention of where he was from in France, though.

ghopper1924, unfortunately, I like all that stuff!  I told my hubby I was going to go to Paris with him next trip so now he is flying London for the next month!  LOLOL  (It just worked out that way...but sure looks suspicious!) 
AND...here is what he brought me (if you ever find this brand in England/France - made in England - it is the RICHEST most chocolatey pudding/mousse and comes in a glass custard cup!  Can't eat the whole thing!)

I love the Ostrich pulling the cart ones! The ducks are cute too!  They are typically way over-priced and there are so many knockoffs!  I really like the expensive Mother of Pearl Etui cases!  (Don't own one - just enjoy from afar!)
