couch circa 1900
« on: September 28, 2016, 03:13:00 pm »
I received this couch (with a matching chair) from my great-aunt.
It had been her mother-in-law's.
I'm just guessing it is circa 1900 judging by when it was passed down. (1935)

Any ideas on what it might be worth?
If anything substantial.
I had it reupholstered.

I think that it's not much older than 1935. Nice job on the reupholstry!

Unfortunately, seating like this tends to not be worth a whole lot. You're better off just keeping it!

Not older than that !!   And that French Provincial style is pretty common !!  I would just keep it !!

Nice job on the reupholstery!  I wouldn't have looked twice at the "old one" but did at the second one.  It sets off the wood/style/lines!

Agree with the others!  Enjoy!

i c
Well, my great-aunt got married in 1935, so I just assumed that's when she got it.
I really don't know.
Maybe she got it after several years of marriage.
What year would you say this is from, mart?

"I keep looking for the "Like" button to click.". I said the same thing when I first found this forum.  Look to the right of your s seen and you should see "Karma points".  You can give those who have helped you Karma Points.  Its a nice jesture.  Beautiful couch BTW!
I should have been born in another era!

No, You are not missing anything !!  I think you have to have a certain number of posts before you can use those !!  We had someone a while back,(we do not know who) that just started handing out smites just for the heck of it !!  So the rule was made to insure the person was a regular member and not a spammer before they could smite us for something we had no clue about !!

I think you have to have 100 posts before you can start handing out karma points. I don't know if special dispensation is available, but you would have to pm KC or Don'tBe to get it.
