MING DYNASTY IVORY BRUSH POT?
« on: November 11, 2016, 03:26:18 pm »
Trying to identify and authenticate a "brush pot", or "bitong", purchased at an estate sale. According to research done, it seems to be authentic. I've sent pictures to different auction sites asking for help. Can anyone give me information or advice?

Very interesting, but why does it have a "Made in China" sticker??

And i've seen labels similar to that on Chinese antiques which had either been part of an exhibited collection or catalogued at some point. Wouldn't put me off at all because the items appears to be genuine.

The base might be a replacement, Mart, but i'd need to see internally. It's not bamboo, no  ;D

Ivory was what I was thinking but I was hesitant to say so.

I know what the title said but sure does not look like ivory !!   There are no close ups !!  Just looked odd to me with the irregular cracking !!
