That board is called a center board, only use would be to allow room for leafs in a draw leaf table. I didn't see it before in pic #1 but i see it now that cogar pointed it out.

Well I was sure hoping that someone would notice it after I asked what its purpose was. ;D ;D ;D

And ps: good cabinetmakers don't include extra wood pieces that don't serve a purpose.

When you see something that looks "odd" ....... then always ask yourself ..... "Now why did he do that?"

I did Cogar but didn`t get an answer !!

The internet is chock full of these english "pub tables" which it seems this form is called. Examples abound with them going anywhere from $100 to a thousand or more but i have no clue how this one stacks up value wise. This one has chairs as well, i wonder if it is a set as that could affect value if they go with table.

These chairs do not match the table !!  As a rule they were not sold with chairs and are more in the utility table category !!  I have never seen a matched set !!

I imagine so but they come to us in cargo loads !!  The chairs do not always stay with the table !! A few mfrs here made a similar type but you bought the chairs separately !!

Yeah, i don't doubt it! These little tables seem quite popular in GB. Whatever happened to OP? 1 post and BAM! nada, nothing, zero. We don't even know where OP is located which is kinda a pet peeve of mine, it is often helpful to know the general location of the object in question is located. I understand about privacy but gee wiz, posters could at least identify what country they are posting from on their profile page!

Somehow I missed this subject...but now I found it!!  :)

Yep, this is a draw leaf.  I have one similar to it in the game room. Was our first table many years ago...  I like it because you don't have a cumbersome leaf to figure out where to put until you need it.

I don't even want to even start approaching the soap box about social media and manners............ ........

YEAH! rant! rant! rant! I am going to rant a little!

In order to post, you have to register, correct? I say make it  mandatory to provide location, it's not like you are providing your address but at least country you are posting from would HELP the forum.

HEY! i was lured into this thread by a draw leaf table! Kinda like a moth to flame! There are NO period american draw leafs known to exist so naturally it's a subject that interests me. We KNOW there were 17th century american draw leaf tables once upon a time because of probate wills that exist in writing, ditto wainscot beds but, NONE survive as of today.
