Cupid candelabra

These candelabra were in my grandmother's home. The interesting thing something's screwed in the center of the holder.

They look an awful lot like they should be "lamp bases".

The top "petal" flange caught my eye, ...... like this one.

Looks more like tarnished brass but hard to tell !!  If there is a nut inside the candle holder its probably because these were made in several parts and are bolted together !!  Hard to judge time period but I would guess mid to late 20`s But could even be later !!

I think it's bronze. My mom was curious about them. She asked me to take a photo. I have one other item to post.

It does not have the soft coppery brown color that bronze normally does !!  This looks to have goldish yellow highlights like old  brass !!

Looks like early 20th century candlesticks.

They had these Cupids with and object my mom calls a loving cup. Has anyone heard of that term?

Sure. It would have been a cup for a function - such as a wedding - and would have been made with two handles, so that two (presumably husband and wife) could drink from it. It would have been made from the same metal as the candlesticks, and would have formed a kind of garniture for display. The candles may have been lit simultaneous to drinking, to symbolize devotion and longevity. Incidentally, the candlesticks look like spelter or old pewter to me.

Sounds pretty cool. What happened to the cup?

We still have it. Didn't consider it was part of the set. Now I see the connection!
