Graphite drawings. Does somebody knows this artist? East Europa?

Hi guys,

I'm on a mission. I'm researching a few sketches but cant read the signature or spell the name  .
I feel that its got a connection to Eastern Europa but I could be mistaken.

Does somebody knows which language this is. Or maybe somebody who knows this signature and artist?
They are sketches of human stone sculptures and others and dating circa 1900-10.

Any help is welcome.

I read that as
K. Derspirov
but nothing pops up on Google for that name.

That was also my first impression but some languages use similar letters but other pronounces

I had 2 bosses from India and they both wrote 'r' as a 'v' with a tiny loop at the bottom point.

That last letter in that signature could also be a 'u' with a line over it.

"Spirou" is Walloon (Belgian) for "squirrel" and/or "mischievous." It's possible that this refers to the artist's personality and is not their actual name, so this might translate to "K. The Mischievous."

that was my thoughts also,  and the last letter can also be a U . Tried it with the letter V and other spellings but still nothing.
Only way to find out is somebody can recognize the spelling or language.
If i know which language it is than I can search for artist by country or get the spelling correct.  The drawings are to good to be of a unknown artist. He or she could also be of a Sculptor?.

Thats a good point Ghopper1924.
The letter D and S are in capital. It can also be German. In the German language they also the word DER as THE.
So maybe German or Belgium artist? Will need to have a look into this. Any idea what the German word Spirou is?

I don't see that Spirou exists in German. My guess is that, as far as etymology goes, the word is related to "spirit" in English and whatever Latin antecedent that both words share.

What about if we read Spirou as Spirov.. Than it would sound German. It will read Der Spirov. This last name does exist in Germany, Russia etc.

Maybe someone will know it by the images.  Perhaps you should show the sketches.

Would like to see the sketches too !!  And just because someone is a good artist does not mean they will show up on a search !!   !!  My suggestion would be to take them to a good art gallery or museum !!  See if they recognize the name !!

Hey Mart, I have uploaded some extra pictures. You are right, just because someone is a good artist does not mean they will show up on a search. I had in the past works which did not show up on search but turned out to be from a respected artist. It can also be that im doing a wrong search, he or she could also be a sculptor and these are his/her  studies? I don't know...

The signature is Greek and reads "K. Dendrinou", the ending means thas it is a woman. I will check my books, there are not many female Greek painters in early 20th c.
