Need help with chandelier
« on: April 22, 2017, 02:04:14 pm »
I have this beautiful brass chandelier from Underwriters Laboratories and would like to sell it. Does anyone has an idea what it could be worth? I did some research but couldn't find anything like it. I also learned that UL is not the manufacturer but a company that stamps products they do testings on. Any help would be appreciated.

But anyway, .......... your chandelier IS NOT from Underwriters Laboratories.

What you are seeing is called a "UL" stamp, mark or tag that means the item it is affixed to was "tested and approved to be safe" by the Underwriters Laboratories testing facilities.

If manufactured in Canada it might/would have a similar mark of "CSA", .... Canadian Standards Association.

Or maybe "Seaside 70s" or "Mid-Century Rec. Room."

I'd say around $50 is right, but as far as I know the mid-century thing is still going, so maybe more $ to a 30-something first-time homeowner.

Nice chandelier.

Is the "disk" in the background the ceiling "finial" for hanging it from?

I believe yours is brass and enamel!  It looks like ones you would see from 1960's to early 1980's.

Keep an eye on this one for sale on Etsy - it may help you to realize the current customer demand/market for a piece like yours!  (I will be surprised if they get this much for it!)

Arms are the same !!  If they would remove those shades that date the light and put good candle bulbs in,,I think it would sell faster !!

A big part of selling is in the presentation and how its advertised !!  But even if you do a best offer you come out ahead if it was free !!
