"It’s a Man’s World, and It Always Will Be
The modern economy is a male epic, in which women have found a productive role — but women were not its author"

It wasn't until the 18th century that women (except Queens & Royals) were provided chairs to sit in!

T’weren’t it the Amish and/or Shaker households that chairs were only provided when it was time to sit down at the table to eat, …… otherwise the chairs hung on “chair pegs” on the wall.

Yup, shure t’was the Shakers, to wit:

The Shakers began the tradition of wall mounted furniture by placing pegs along the walls of their rooms in order to hang chairs and other furniture pieces when they are not in use.

That's right! just ignore Paglia's argument! That's what old people do! She is an art history prof in Philly, an absolutely brilliant writer, you should try reading some of her stuff, agree or not, this lady is very SHARP! She travels the world offering commentary on the topics of the day.
