1800's Antique Silver calling card.
« on: July 09, 2017, 10:36:59 pm »
Good Evening,

What year was this made?
Is this from the United States or England?
Who is the maker or Silversmith or company?
What is the value?
Any other information?
There are no marks for the maker on the inside top.
Lakeside Scene on side. Intials on other.

Hi!  Beautiful piece.

Can you please give the dimensions of the piece.  Any history/background you have on it.  What country you are in?

Are there any initials/marks in the design of the piece?

This style was used for card cases AND for vestas (match holders).

Are you sure it is silver?  Is it marked anywhere on it?   (The reason I ask is many of the later ones were made from metals that appeared to be silver.)

Here are a few ways to determine if your piece is silver:  http://www.wikihow.com/Test-Silver

The key to any testing is an INCONSPICUOUS place!!!  Don't devalue an item to find out if it is silver or not.

These pieces are collectible even if not silver.  Just may not bring as much money.  Chances are yours is from early to mid 1900's.  Many people still like to use them - almost a resurgence of popularity in them and great conversation starter.
