Antique Wood Doll

Hello All,

I was blessed to inherit a beautiful, antique wood doll. Unfortunately, I don't know the any history about her. She was owned by a woman who was from Germany. So I thought perhaps it's a German made doll.

I've scoured the internet for hours looking for something similar... and actually the closest I could find was a German wood doll. But still nothing that showed it would have been from the same maker or period.

I cannot find any markings on her. Nothing on the bottoms of her shoes or any where on limbs. Her clothes are sewn on. So if there was a marking on her body, then I can't see it unless I remove her clothes.

She is about 7 inches in length, and her dress adds another couple inches.

If anyone has any idea of her history and current value, I would love to hear.

Hi

I think when you say wood it’s actually composition. It could well be German and by a manufacturer called Wittig, as they produced a couple of different sized dolls with almost exactly the same style head.

I believe that is the maker of the doll! Looks just like her.

The mark on a  doll is usually at the back of the head at the hairline or back of the neck !!  Nice heirloom doll you have there !!
