Gray & Dudley Washington Furnace
« on: January 19, 2018, 10:08:57 am »
I have searched and I'm having trouble finding any information on this stove or value.  As the tag says, it was built by Gray & Dudley Hardware Co.  I've found some sales pamphlets online of different models, but not one that looks like this.  I believe it to be from the 20s, and it can burn coal or wood.  Any info about this stove or the value of it would be appreciated.  Thanks

Didn`t know if you had read this one !!  Gray & Dudley advertised that they made half of what they sold !!  But they did not say if they had a foundry and they would have to for cast iron !!  More than likely they just contracted with a foundry to make the stoves for them and to their specifications !!  But you might check further to see if they did or not !!

Here is some interesting legal history concerning Gray & Dudley with a competitor (Estate Stove Company):

Also, I believe you are correct in dating the stove to the 1920's.  Here is a 1927 ad with a Washington furnace similar to yours:

Gray and Dudley was formed in 1895 and went out of business in 1952:

I believe the Gray and Dudley Stoves were manufactured by Washington Stoves and Ranges in Nashville, TN :

Here is one made by Washington and retailed by Gray and Dudley which sold on Ebay (1/2018 for $155.00):
