Found this fun Hemingway book trunk

Can't  find one like it to find out anything about it.  The outside is leather the inside is suede. Any information would be great. I'll put more pics in a different block because of file size.

Would you please provide the publishing information on the book(s)...date, company, location?

I know Mart already asked about the top of the book trunk.  But, I'd also like to know if the sides are completely straight or look like this:

I could be mistaken but, I think the Hemingway image is the top or lid of the trunk.

The first picture has the cover. It is a copper inlay of a ship.  There are no publication details They are in a straight line.  It's probably around 2" tall  It's kind of like a good size foot stool.

The Old Man and the Sea was published in 1952, so your trunk cannot be any older than that. Most likely it dates from the mid to late 50s or early 60s.

Yes, and it was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1953!  Originally, I thought this might be a "fancy" book set until clarification that there were no books.

Did anyone notice that on the "Little Women" book binding....the author is Louisa Nae Alcott; not Louisa May Alcott?

These stacking book side tables have been popular imports for the past 25 years.  Can you post a picture of the hinges?

Well,, thats odd !! If that is the top you can only view it if its standing on its end (or you are standing at the end) !!  And only one end at that !!  You would think that the top would be situated so it was correct if standing in front !!
Or am I looking at it wrong ??

I didn't bother reading the titles/authors ... but I definitely agree with icedgold10, ..... the name is intentionally misspelled to evade a "copyright" law suite.

I have seen brand new fake/reproduced pottery with an old, old name (mark) such as Staffordshire, ...... with one (1) character being misspelled, like so, Stuffordshire or Staffordshure.

And ps, why would anyone call those above pictured "thingys" a "book trunk".

Me thinks a more appropriate name would be a "book" safe, ..... a "safe" place for hiding valuables in "plain sight".

Put your cash money in one of them and place it on a shelf in your book case alongside or in between other books.
