Excellent Kathy43,,  you have learned a bit here !!  Don`t worry like Ghopper said.. another  will come along !!   $1700.. is  a laughable amount !!  Look at your local Craigslist !!  You may find one you like there,, and within driving distance !!

nother one will come along, I guarantee it.  Maybe the next person will be living in 2018 as well, and will accept a realistic offer.

We can always hope Ghopper !!  Age, style ect,, does not always equal money !!

Thanks guys. I see things I like all the time, but very few times in life do I see something I can't live without. So, yes, there will be others.

So sad that it isn't worth more.

I still love brown furniture and know that it will regain in value one day - hopefully in my lifetime.

By the time the shabby chic, chalk paint, enamel spray paint phase goes thru the "fixer upper" phase on brown furniture - the brown furniture left on the market will increase in value.

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

If they had to strip as much paint as I have in ugly colors,, they would re-think using that paint brush !!,, Unless it was originally painted at the factory,, is fairly modern,, and doesn`t require artwork !!

I once had a late 1940’s vintage booklet, issued by the US Dept. of Ag, which detailed the method of modernizing your old furniture. It showed how you could remove the apron off your dining table, and then paint the whole thing gray followed by adding flower decals to the top.  In the bedroom, cut the legs off the dresser, cut the bed foot board down and coat everything with paint to create the new “Hollywood” effect. Sounds like a typical government funded program. ???
