ANTIQUE TABLE

This was my grandmother's table.  I have no idea what it's called or what year it came from
She always called it a French Table.  It has no drawers, nor does it open up anywhere.
Can anyone help me with this?

Agree that it's probably French. Nice marquetry work, although it looks like it needs some TLC. Probably ca. 1880, though it could be a bit later.

Look closer Ghopper,, believe the top is painted on !!  French design but likely made in good old USA !!  1970`s !!

Really? Painted? I guess I can't tell; you certainly may be right.

On the other hand, look at the lower left quadrant where the flash is strongest. Looks like inlay.

Hey Ladyblue! Is the top painted on?

Just looked with a magnifying glass !!  There are some areas that look like it could be inlay and then there are others that do not !!  There are so many scratches and flaking of the finish that its hard to tell !!  The lines that you see KC looked like where the varnish or lacquer has flaked and settled,, I would expect a darker line for inlay instead of the light one I see !!  The gold paint does not wear the same as the other and frequently you can see an edge !!  Maybe the person will come back and tell us more  !!  Looks like the stretcher is also broken !!  Would also like to know if the  table seems kind of lightweight for the size !!
