Appraisal for a Hinze baby grand piano
« on: March 03, 2019, 11:34:24 am »
Hi,
I have a piano that I've owned for approximately 50 years.  (My mother bought it for me around 1968)  I'm looking to find some assistance in determining it's worth.  I've attached some photos of it, it is a Hinze Baby Grand Piano.  I no longer live in the same county where the piano is located so accessing information on it is limited. If anyone has any knowledge about this piano, it would be most appreciated.

Pianos are a “hard” sell, …… and most times it is “tuff” to even give one away, ….. even if you promise to deliver it.

Pianos are big, bulky and heavy ……. and now days, most homes/apartments do not have enough “free” space to sit a piano.

I would plan on paying somebody to take it away.  :(

Pianos do not hold their value. I know someone that purchased a $50,000 Steinway and was lucky to get 12,000 for it 10 years later. Sized, desirability, location, humidity,  Storage all affect pianos.

I found one website that has a bluebook on piano prices  you can purchase. Or they’ll do a written appraisal for $25.

If the piano is in storage,, it would need to be checked by a professional to determine what restoration, tuning  ect is needed !!  There are speciality sites that you can list it on  but any work it needs will affect its possible value !!
