Child's toy antique cast iron hand crank sewing machine
« on: October 29, 2019, 09:10:49 pm »
I just got a Child's toy antique cast iron hand crank sewing machine. Not interested in selling just interested in how to work it. All parts move nicely. I don't know if all the parts are there or how to thread it if it uses a bobber. All it has is a flywheel type of PC where most bobbers are. The name "Wee" is written on it. Quite small and ornate. Round sewing plate. Can't find it if the national toy company made it or stitchwell or another company did. It's a mystery. Found one video showing a stitchwell closely resembling it but larger. All it showed was the lady using it. Not how to thread it etc. Picture quality was so bad I couldn't make out the parts in for comparison either.

All sewing machines basically work the same way ….. and thus are threaded (needle and bobbin) similarly.

So, just do a Google search on …… “how to thread a hand crank sewing machine

Let us know how you made out.

And ps, that is a real sewing machine, ……. not a child's toy.

Homesteaders and rural households needed them in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

They are still used by people who live "remotely" off-the-grid (no electricity)  ;D ;D

Cogar is right !!  All basically thread the same way !!  Is there a way to lift the plate and look under to see how the bobbin fits ??  When the bobbin is ready (  full of  thread) it should fit into the holder with the arm fitting into the slot !!  Hold the thread  with your fingers on top and close the cover !!  The first few stitches will lock the bottom stitching into place !!
