I picked up this chest at an estate sale. Its 18in-11in. The only marking I can find are on the lock plate. It has a star with a key though it and the word PHILA, on the other side PAT'D MAR 69. Top of the lock May 69 & Nov 70. There is also a date above it but its hard to read. The bottom of the chest has little wheels but two are broken. Inside the box has a picture of little children and a few compartments. There is also a tray that can be removed. It looks like there was once X marks across many of the panels. Can anyone tell me more about this chest? Was it made in the 1800s or 1900?

Thank you Stacey

Star Lock company operated during Victorian times (1836 to early 1900's) so the dates of 69 and 70 would be 1800's.  Not familiar with this particular lock.

Are the bands on the actual truck leather or metal (on the outside)?

Take a look at this trunk with similar interiors to yours and the lock on it was a star lock as well.https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/209705-antique-steamer-trunk

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

HI! KC thanks for responding! I’m trying to figure out as much as possible.
The trunk bands are metal.
