New trading card seller - questions on shipping strategy
« on: September 16, 2024, 02:06:33 am »
Hi everyone! I just recently started selling bits and pieces of my trading card collection on eBay. I’m using the EBay Standard Envelope for sales under $20 on just about all of my orders.

When it comes to listing competitively and selling fast, I’m wondering what the best strategy should be with the shipping. I usually can get my package to weigh less than one ounce, so the shipping is 63 cents or whatever.

I’ve done variations of charging a flat .99 shipping, having the buyer pay the actual shipping cost, and offering free shipping and increasing my price accordingly.

Does any one of these methods seem to work better? I realize it’s essentially the same price in the end, but I’m just wondering if buyers tend to prefer seeing the free shipping versus a lower actual product cost. Or maybe the majority of buyers search by the combined price plus shipping so it doesn’t matter anyway.

Thanks for any advice !
