I have a bowl with this written in the circle: Made In  Japan Hand Painted. In that circle is a bird. Also on the bottom is a 5 ponted raised star. Please, does any one know what age that would place the bowl. Thanks, Lynnie

After 1921 and a good possibility before WWII.  Here's a wonderful site where you might find your mark - it's a huge site and will take a while to download -

Select Japan marks - there are many - best wishes   KB

Oh, and if you can identify the maker you can google it.  Or try my favorite commercial site - www.kaleden.com which takes you to GoAntiques.  And you might find your maker in the porcelain/pottery section.  For values.  KB
