Johnson Brothers china
« on: March 20, 2006, 05:40:03 pm »

Hi,
I have an almost complete set of Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles dinnerware. It has an intricate cranberry red design with scenes of British castles and a floral design around the scalloped edge. On the back of each peice there is a crown and below that it says, "Johnson Brothers made in England Old Britain Castles. Can anyone tell me what the value of this set would be and when they were actually made. I know they still produce this same design, but I would like to know if the original would be considered a valuable antique. Thank you ~

please try here:

http://www.thepotteries.org/allpotters/607.htm

there's a wealth of info and marks on this site for Johnson Bros - I honestly don't know if the older pieces are more valuable - I would assume that the ones made in England would be more desireable than those more currently "outsoursced", even tho' the quality may be the same -

try replacements.com - - and I can't verify if the prices would reflect any one particular era -

Many web resources regarding well known British pottery/porcelain manufacturers contend that when folks want British pottery etc, they want it to be "made in England".  KB
