I recently purchased a Roseville Freesia vase, shape 117-6. I thought that I really knew the difference between a fake Roseville and a real Roseville because I have been collecting this pottery for 8 years. However, this Freeisa vase has the following mark of Roseville in relief: U.S.A, Roseville, 117-6. The vase is green. In the rest of my collection (of other patterns), the mark in relief is always Rosevill, USA and then the size (in that order). The vase itself, however, to me looks like the real thing -- the glaze is right, the colors are right and the artistic level is consistent with the real pieces.
Has anyone ever seen real Rosevill marks for Freesia where the USA appears before the Roseville (actually on top). I can find nothing in any of my books that references a Rosevill mark where the USA apprears first (actually above) the Roseville in relief.
Thanks.
