Marantz Receiver

Hi,
I have a Marantz 2285b receiver in a custom walnut cabinet. Recently, I changed the lamps because some of them were out and when I pulled the receiver out of the cabinet[cabinet is vented with air holes], there was no metal top lid/cover on the receiver. When I pulled it out, the bare internal components of the receiver were showing not a lid like I expected. Does anyone know if the 2285b should have a lid even if it has a custom cabinet? thank you.
