Antique Dishes

I have some trays, dishes, candle holders, and silver from my grandmother and not sure how to go about finding out if they are worth anything. The tray and dishes are not overly heavy. A candy dish says it is silver over bronze. I know nothing about antiques. Where does one start. sg
