Antique Buffet - Where to start??
« on: January 03, 2007, 11:43:23 am »
I recently purchased an antique buffet.  What is the best way to go about finding out the maker and other info on the origin of the piece?  I've looked it over, and I've not seen any marks, numbers, etc. that would give me a place to start.

It measures 79" Long X 23" Deep X 37" High, and has a veneer which has chipped in a few places.

I'm in the process of replacing a center pivot hinge for the middle door, and I sent off the attached photo to a couple of restoration/repair sites for help w/ acquiring a skeleton key.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Joe

Without any marking(s) it's never easy to pin down a manufacturer. Yours appears to me to be circa 1950. Here:  http://www.vandykes.com/catalog.php  is one of my favorite restoration places. You can order a catalog from them. They may/may not have what your seeking.
