Antique Library Table
« on: January 19, 2007, 07:09:35 pm »
This is a solid oak library table.  I am trying to research the history of this table or at least one like it.  I have no idea of the age but it belonged to my great grandmother who died in 1919 and she bought it used.  It has rounded corners, carved legs and a basket that hangs down in the middle of the table.  I can provide a picture to anyone but I am not interested in selling it.

test of ability to upload pictures.
If you can see a icon of a blue 1950's shoebox ford, then upload capability is fixed.

Very nice.........as you stated, oak library table. Turtle top, appears to be refinished. Circa 1890-1900. Closeups of the underside might reveal different but that's pretty close.

Yes, it has been refinished.  My mother did that several years ago.  Whoever had it before, either my grandmother or one of her sisters had painted it green.  Actually, I think my mother found several different coats of paint on it before she got it down to the oak finish.
