I need help with this vintage cash register
« on: February 01, 2007, 02:31:23 pm »
This is a vintage cash register made by The National Cash Register Company. I can't tell the age of it however the last date it was serviced was by a NCR technician on Dec. 31, 1947. It has two counters within made by The Veeder MFG Co. with a patented date of Oct. 3, 1899. The best of what I can figure from my research, this register was manufactured between 1908 and 1915 however I can't tell.

It does work from what I can tell... I have added (using the crank and tax features) and reset item and seems to be functioning properly. It has an electric receipt system, I don't know if this works or not, it sounds like it is functioning properly.

I need to find out the value and date of possible manufactur... feel free to email me and I'll send you more pictures if need be.

The only thing i know about these prewar NCR cash registers is that most all of them were brass registers... but during WWII, NCR offered to rebuild them for free if you allowed them to take the brass panels off of them and replace them with steel. I guess they needed the brass for the war effort?

Interesting trivia...
