Old Pocket Watch
« on: June 20, 2007, 07:24:17 pm »
I am trying to place a date on an old pocket watch. This watch was in my Father`s possesion beforepassing away & may have belonged to his Father ( my Grand Father).G/F born in 1864, died in 1954. My Father was born in 1895 in Sidney, NY & passed on in 1980. It is not a timex but may very well have been because it is still ticking. It is unique in that you must unscrew the ring holding the face with the palm of your hand, lift up a small tab located on the upper corner of the facing. This is the only way that you are able to set the time. You wind the watch after you put the piece back together by the top stem, usually for 24 hours. I keep this under a glass dome as a keepsake  & remembrance. The face is in scripted with Sidney, NY. No doubt sering as the location & also written the name of one George W. Gooley. I am curious about the name & the history of the watch.
