Small Victorian Styled/Era(?) Porcelain Box
« on: August 06, 2007, 12:05:29 pm »
This little box, which I use as a jewelry box, is 1 1/2 inches high (with lid off) x 1 1/2 in deep x 2 in long. It is beautiful white Porcelain with hand painted 18ct gold border on the lid. All 4 Victorian styled feet are also cover in 18ct gold.
It almost looks like it was styled after a Chippendale foot stool.
Also on the lid, a single purple rose with green leaves and a purple rose bud. There are also purple rose buds with green leaves on the body. Again, all hand painted. On the bottom are 2 blue crossed arrows with "S 8648" underneath them.
(Looks like that too was hand painted)
This has been in our family for a very long time and is in perfect condition.
I am trying to find out where it came from and approximately how old it is.

Any ideas are welcomed, on the origin of this beautiful little box..

Thanks in advance for your time.
