1925 Bernhardt Furn. Court Cupboard??
« on: February 19, 2008, 10:43:59 am »
I recently purchased this cabinet which I've been told was a 1925 Bernhardt Furn. Court Cupboard.  I know that is was made by Bernhardt Furn, but I'm not sure about anything else.  It's 61" high, 35" wide, and 17" deep.  If anyone has any information about this kind of cabinet or knows what the value of the cabinet might be, I'd appreciate it.  I'm not reselling it, just curious.  This is my first post, so I hope the pictures come out.

It is in the "English" style, adapted from the Jacobean period.

Having the characteristic "melon" shape of the posts.

Many American furniture makers turned to European period designs for
adapting to their lines during the 20's. Usually made in a smaller scale than the originals.

:)jacobean in style is correct. 1/4 sawn oak it's not. oak fell out of favor in the late 20's. it's walnut. retail value about $1,200.00 dollars.
but in a brick & mortar shop' I would'nt be surprised at seeing a sticker price. at $2,500.00 +

Thank you for your help.  I paid $500 for it, so I think I got a really good deal.
