Duncan Fife Drop Leaf Tables
« on: April 30, 2008, 02:56:00 pm »
I have two Duncan Fife tables.  One table has claw feet with four claws on each of four legs.  This table has latches underneath so that the table will pull apart for a leaf in the center.  The other table has metal covered feet and also pulls apart in the center.  These tables both have surface scratches.  Should I try to refinish these tables?  I use both of them.

bb, that depends on the depth and number of scratches.

I suggest you consider purchasing a pack of those "wax refinishing sticks". There are 5 or 6 different shades per pack for matching the finish on your tables and they look just like a crayon.

Thank you for your reply.  I didn't know about the pencils.  I will try this first.

Thank you for your reply.  Since I read your message I have been looking on the internet for the table.  I found it on eBay #370046006409.  It looks as if it is going for 99 cents.  I paid $35 in 1977.  The other table which may be  Duncan Phyfe  has brass toe sockets.  I thought I once saw the words Goebel Titches under the table.  That was a few years ago when it was easier to get on the floor.

Gobel titches was a department store here in the states during the 1950's.

Duncan Fife Drop Leaf tables are really nice for the decoration. The kind of decoration provide me more strength to look forward in my beginning of the career and made me learn that these products come under luxury.

A response to a 14 year-old post. Seems like this place has just given up on eliminating spammers.

ghopper1924, Ed and I do get rid of lots of spammers (rude, junk/trash, blitzing the site, etc.)  But there are plenty of people that bring up old posts. We gladly accept people to look at old posts and discuss if they want.  However, I don't know many people that come here to write essay papers!  :)

"Antique Time" would be a good name for a forum, you need to get off your stump and make that happen! :P
